What Application Development & Maintenance contributes to Cardinal Health

Information Technology oversees the effective development, delivery, and operation of computing and information services. This function anticipates, plans, and delivers Information Technology solutions and strategies that enable operations and drive business value.

Application Development & Maintenance performs configuration or coding to develop, enhance and sustain the organization's software systems in a cross-functional team environment through adherence to established design control processes and good engineering practices. This job family programs and configures end user applications, systems, databases and websites to achieve the organization's internal needs and externally-facing business needs. Application Development & Maintenance partners with business leaders, investigates user needs and conducts regular assessments, maintenance and enhancements of existing applications.

Responsibilities

Provide technical leadership and guidance to a team that consists of onshore/offshore resources, including both contractors and FTE's

Analyze system operations to identify areas of improvement with respect to system monitoring, capacity, and issue root causes.

Drive change that ensures continuous improvement in system stability and performance.

Define and deliver technical API strategy for external and internal customer integration

Anticipate, plan and deliver IT solutions that support enterprise strategic goals and enable increased business value (Idea incubation)

Lead and/or active participation in code reviews

Provide technical options analysis and estimates based on high level business requirements

Problem solve for effective and timely resolution of system issues including but not limited to production outages.

Develop and foster a culture of "Create", "Consult", and "Cultivate"

Qualifications

8-12 years of experience, preferred

Bachelor's degree in related field, or equivalent work experience, preferred

Experience with the agile methodology using tools like Jira and GitHub.

Proficiency with fundamental front-end languages such as HTML, CSS and JavaScript.

Familiarity with JavaScript frameworks such as Angular JS, React and Amber.

Proficiency with server-side languages such as Java, node.js

Proficiency with database technology such as MongoDB, PostSQL, and/or BigQuery

Experience Developing front and backend website architecture and applications.

Experience Creating servers and databases for functionality.

Experience Designing and developing APIs, and services with a microservices architecture

Experience in EDA concepts and design (Kafka)

Experience in TDD concepts and design (Test Driven Development)

Demonstrates knowledge of software development life cycle, modeling of business processes, application design patterns, business/functional documents.

Staying abreast of developments in web applications and programming languages.

Excellent verbal communication skills.

Good problem-solving skills.

Demonstrates understanding of hardware/software platforms including but not limited to operating systems, databases, application servers, web servers and integration technologies.

Participates in the development of policies and procedures to achieve specific goals

Recommends new practices, processes, metrics, or models

Works on or may lead complex projects of large scope

Provides solutions which may set precedent

Independently determines method for completion of new projects

Receives guidance on overall project objectives

Acts as a mentor to less experienced colleagues

Anticipated salary range: $119,800 - $171,100
