consumer electronics.
As a Cost Engineer (CE) within Development & Engineering, you will
be operating in a fast paced and multidisciplinary development
environment. Using your personal and technical skills, you will
work closely with suppliers ,sourcing, and ASML development team to
lead value creation and drive Cost of Goods reduction for Wilton's
new products across multiple projects. These new products will
include high precision mechanical and mechatronic systems,
electrical, optical, opto-mechanical, sub-systems and components.
You will need to utilize your knowledge of raw materials,
manufacturing process flows, capabilities, and setup, machining
(milling, turning, EDM, etc) time, and advance manufacturing
techniques to create and assess value and cost down
opportunities.
Roles and responsibilities
As a cost engineer within D&E, you will play a key role in new
product development and maturity activities, including:
Estimate new design manufacturing costs for complex parts and
assemblies and prepare cost estimates to support the development of
new products in a fast paced, highly technical environment to
ensure cost of goods remain in line with budget.
Drive down Cost of Goods (Parts & modules) by influencing design on
manufacturability & costs.
Provide adequate transparency in Product Costing for both Technical
costs and Business uplifts.
Create more value and cost down opportunities through deepen
assessments of Factory Standard Costs and simulate Supplier &
Supply Chain Costs
Make parts virtually on our software to determine the optimal cost
of the parts and assemblies.
Meet with design engineers and influence the design using your
knowledge of optimal manufacturing practices.
Be comfortable negotiating Technical cost with suppliers to drive
down high volume part costs (i.e. milling times, setup analysis,
tooling, ---)
Work with Sourcing and Procurement in visiting suppliers to
validate and negotiate technical costs.
Collaborate with Development & Engineering, competences, and use
the estimated manufacturing cost to influence solution down
selection.
This position is located on-site in Wilton, CT. It requires onsite
presence to attend in-person work-related events, trainings and
meetings and to further ensure teamwork, collaboration and
innovation.
Education and experience
Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering,
Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Optics (or
similar)
BS with minimum of 8 years work experience.
MSc with minimum 6 years work experience.
Based on education level as outlined above, relevant work
experience must have taken place in a high-tech environment in the
field of process development, design engineering, manufacturing or
a combination including experience with:
3 or more years of direct experience in the practice of high-end
precision manufacturing of high precision mechanics and
mechatronics assembly with qualification
Understanding of manufacturing techniques including 5 axis CNC
machining, EDM, bonding and joining, materials, coatings, additive
manufacturing, automation/robotization, and precision
measurement
Knowledge of manufacturability of raw material manufacturing like
stainless steel, titanium, casting, extrusion, high end plastics,
etc..
Experience with manufacturing complex components and assemblies and
a general understanding of costs.
Experience in electrical components, including designing boards and
cables, experience in PCB visual and functional testing,
manufacturing processes experience: detailed knowledge of
manufacturing techniques for cables/connectors, PCB Assembly,
programmable logic and electrical rack/cabinet assembly is a
plus.
Specific experience with costing, quoting, estimating, and value
chain mapping
Understanding of supplier and supply chain (advanced) manufacturing
capabilities and preferable their financial value stream and
costs.
Proven ability to drive down Cost of parts and assemblies by
influencing design on manufacturability and costs.
Creation of manufacturing process flows for manufacturability and
cost calculations based on those flows
Technical improvement projects in supply chain operations
Value Engineering and cost-reduction projects
Working closely with suppliers on technical aspects, process
development, manufacturing flow
Skills
Proven ability to perform effectively in a demanding environment
with changing workloads.
Result driven-demonstrate ownership and accountability.
Demonstrate open, clear, concise and professional
communication.
Work according to a strict set of procedures within the provided
timelines.
Strong negotiation skills during interactions with suppliers and
other ASML sectors. Ability to initiate, influence and steer
without formal authority.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

This position is located on-site in Wilton, CT. It requires onsite
presence to attend in-person work-related events, trainings and
meetings and to further ensure teamwork, collaboration and
innovation.
A flexible workplace arrangement may be available to employees
working in roles conducive to remote work (up to two days a
week).
Business demands will require travel (-20% but could be more during
escalation situations and at with notice)
This position requires access to controlled technology, as defined
in the United States Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. -
