Description MaineHealth- Behavioral Health is seeking a Board-Certified Psychiatrist to serve as Medical Director of Addiction Services. The successful candidate will be BC/BE in Addiction Medicine, and administrative, leadership and research experience is desired.Maine Behavioral Healthcare (MBH) is Northern New England's leading integrated behavioral healthcare system, serving predominantly southern, western, central, and Mid-Coast Maine. MBH is composed of southern Maine's only nonprofit psychiatric hospital, outpatient treatment, crisis services, Crisis Stabilization units, as well as 5 ACT teams.MHBH is currently developing a comprehensive system-wide substance use disorder services, including services for opiate and alcohol addictions, for individuals from the region. This initiative is in conjunction with MBH's role as the lead agent for the development of a comprehensive behavioral health service line for all of MaineHealth. This fully integrated and growing system of behavioral healthcare makes it a regional and national model for treating people with serious mental health issues. MBH's 30-plus clinical programs and nearly 30 service locations is one of the broadest behavioral healthcare programs in the state.Maine Medical Center (MMC) is MaineHealth's largest hospital and has 637 licensed beds and is the state's leading tertiary care hospital and Level One Trauma Center, with a full complement of Residencies and Fellowships and an integral part of Tufts University Medical School.The enhancement of education programs will include an Addiction Medicine Fellowship residing at MMC, and potential learning opportunities for residents from several MMC GME programs, including Psychiatry, Medicine, Family Practice, and Emergency Medicine, and medical students from the Tufts University School of Medicine program. Further, it is expected that the Medical Director will develop an addiction research program in partnership with the Center for Psychiatric Research.The Medical Director is responsible for the oversight and development of a Substance Use Disorders Service for MBH and the Behavioral Health Service Line for MaineHealth. The responsibilities include development and oversight of the clinical programs and practices, academic programs including graduate and undergraduate medical education (GME, UME) programs, research and quality improvement efforts.Situated on the Maine coast, Portland offers the best of urban sophistication combined with small-town friendliness.
