ICU - Travel - (ICU RN) StartDate: 10/28/2024 Available Shifts: 12

Minimum experience: 2 years Will you accept a first-time traveler?
No If they have a lot of clinical experience, and some of it has
been in a small unit reach out to Jodi, she sometimes will make
exceptions. Patient Types: It is a multi-acuity unit; travelers
will take MSU level patients if there are no ICU patients or you
may have a mixture of both Post-heart Cath, Cardiac
(ACS/NSTEMI/CHF), post-surgical, Overdose, Cardiac arrest, Detox
patients --- medical reasons, vents, septic shock, pulmonary edema,
end stage COPD, oncology with complications Surgeries at the
Facility: GI Surgeries, High risk colectomies, Resections, Gastric
surgeries for gastroparesis, Vascular, jaw reconstruction,
pacemaker insertion, orthopedic (spinal, joint replacement),
Bedside Procedures Done: Cardioversion, Trans venous pacing, TEE,
intubations, chest tube insertions, para/thoracentesis, central
line insertions, epidural insertions, lumbar punctures They will
teach travelers things they may want to learn (ABGs, U/S guided IVs
etc) Patient Ratios: RN - 1:2 for acute patients up to 1:4 if
Med-Surg overflow. Can have 1:3 if two are lower acuity/medical
status No CNA support Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS
(preferred) Skills required: Please ask all travelers about charge
experience and include in the offer info if they have/have not
worked in a CRN capacity Vents (basic understanding including
ability to titrate FiO2 and comfortability titrating), traches,
drains, chest tubes, IV placement, reading and interpreting cardiac
rhythm strips (confirm monitor tech---s findings) ABG Collection
preferred (willing to train travelers) Familiarity with
Chemotherapy (preferred) Support on the Unit: Telemetry Monitor
Tech 24/7, RT is only on dayshift but can be called in for unstable
patients as needed. For vented patients the only setting the nurse
would adjust is the FiO2 Intensivist at EMMC available for consult.
Hospitalist 24/7 House Supervisor Flight team in-house as a
resource when not on transport. Charting System: Cerner Floating:
None Orientation: (facility and unit) Two days of hospital
orientation 2 days with preceptor (1 observing, 1 providing hands
on care) Scheduling: Weekend rotation: out of 6 weeks they can work
up to 4, core staff works every other weekend. Manager says she
will try to be flexible to fit them into that rotation when she
can, but this is not guaranteed. Call required: No call Holiday
Expectations: as needed RTO requests: Seek manager approval Other
notes: Scrub Color: Any color, professional Free Parking? Yes
