What You'll Do:
As the Substance Misuse Prevention Coordinator, you'll take the lead in regional efforts to address substance misuse and promote health equity. Working as part of our dedicated SCPHN team, you'll spearhead strategies, programs, and initiatives that focus on substance misuse prevention, mental health, and social determinants of health. You will use a public health approach with the Strategic Prevention Framework (SPF) to foster a stronger, healthier community.

Your leadership will shine as you engage and mobilize the community, facilitate our Prevention Leadership Group, and collaborate with a wide network of partners to drive impactful change.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead Regional Prevention Efforts: Develop and maintain a regional network of experts to support substance misuse prevention, collaborating on health promotion activities, programs, and strategies.
  • Drive Evidence-Based Approaches: Implement data-driven and evidence-based prevention programs, ensuring cultural appropriateness and measurable outcomes.
  • Foster Collaboration: Create and maintain key partnerships within the community, acting as a leader and facilitator across multiple platforms to unify prevention efforts.
  • Community Engagement: Lead community education, facilitate trainings and workshops, and provide technical assistance to strengthen prevention activities.
  • Social Marketing & Messaging: Develop creative prevention messaging through social media and other communication channels, using tools like Canva to design engaging materials that resonate with a broad audience.
  • Support Strategic Planning: Play an active role in the strategic planning process, providing critical data, insights, and support to continuously improve program initiatives. What You'll Bring:
    • Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Social Work, or a related field (preferred), or 3-5 years of experience in public health, community health education, or community organization.
    • Certified Prevention Specialist (CPS) certification preferred, or willingness to pursue certification within the first year of hire.
    • Strong leadership, strategic planning, and community mobilization skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects with precision, while building relationships with stakeholders and driving community health improvements.
    • A passion for substance misuse prevention and the ability to think creatively about integrated health strategies. Work Location(s):
      • Strafford County Public Health Network Goodwin Community Health, Somersworth, NH
      • Hours Per Week: 40 (8:00am - 5:00pm)
      • Days: Monday - Friday
      • Job Status: Full-Time, Hourly (Non-Exempt)
      • Eligible for Benefits: Yes
        • Pay: $25.00-$28.00 per hour
          Physical Demands & Work Environment:
          You'll need to be ready for a dynamic and collaborative work environment that involves multitasking, public speaking, and working both in an office and within the community. Occasional travel may be required to attend meetings and community events

          GSCH offers earned time accrual (15 days in your first year [pro-rated by FTE]), plus seven (7) paid holidays. Eligibility starts at 24 hours/week, with full benefits offered at 32 hours/week and above.
