Job Description:
Overview
Under the supervision of the Diagnostic Radiology Manager and/or
Coordinator, the MRI Tech I performs a wide variety of technicaland
professional duties utilizing complex imaging equipment to produce
quality MRI images as requested for subsequent interpretation by
the radiologist. All duties are performed according to departmental
and organizational policies and procedures and demonstrates
exceptional service excellence in all interactions as outlined in
the Standards of Professional Behavior. To meet the staffing needs
of the department, as necessary, MRI staff may be assigned at any
of the YNHH MRI locations, regardless of your regularly assigned
work location.

Responsibilities
Efficiently follows routine protocols, demonstrates independent
judgment, and has minimal inactive scanner utilization.
40 1. Follows routine protocols and refers to the doctor's exam
requisition to ensure the correct exam is
performed. Is capable of building scan protocols utilizing the
correct options with the correct pulse
sequences.
1 1. Efficiently performs and completes each exam in the
appropriate time frame . Supervising manager will measure delays
that affect equipment utilization and patient wait time.
1 2. Follows all MRI Safety measures required by the Joint
Commission, participates in ongoing training for staff enrichment,
adheres to all Radiology policies, and performs IV insertion using
aseptic technique. Demonstrates minimal inactive scan time which is
reflected in the yearly technical competency review.
1 3. Demonstrates the ability to enhance the MRI image quality,
performs post processing of image data, ensures the transmittal of
all images to PACS, and accurately edits/ completes the correct
exam,
including all supplies, to ensure correct charge capture.
1 4. Demonstrates an ability to utilize independent judgment during
equipment difficulties to efficiently
diagnose the problem, contact service engineer, and to communicate
the problem to the supervisor,
manager, and the next shift
Performs quality and compassionate patient care in order to ensure
cooperation, safety, and satisfaction. Demonstrates 100% accuracy
on safety screening and continues to promote our pledge for
Service
Excellence.
15 2. Thoroughly explains the procedure to the patient and offer
them the emotional support to endure and complete the exam.
2 1. Accurately reviews safety form for completeness ( identifying
and investigating any MRI safety
contraindications, validating two person signature on the MRI
safety form, and reviews POC testing
values for safe contrast administration) 100% of the time as
observed by the supervisor and/or manager.
2 2. Accurately identifies the patient by name and date of birth by
checking the name band prior to start of the procedure.
2.3 Actively participates in sectional, departmental, and
hospital-wide initiatives to promote Service
Excellence.
2 4. Accurately and consistently performs ACR weekly QA to ensure
equipment is working efficiently and to keep us compliant in
maintaining our accreditation.
2 5. Ensures a Clean & Safe environment through daily exam room and
equipment inspections.
Performs various record keeping, customer service functions to
ensure exam charges are properly billed and communicates feedback
in order to ensure goals of the department are met and operations
run efficiently .
3.1 Accurately completes/edits charges for exams in EPIC 100% of
the time to guarantee proper billing and medical record
documentation.
3 2. Post processing and all transfer of images to PACS is
required100% of the time to ensure the report
reflects the interpretation of all images.
3 3. Retrieves in patient request from EPIC and assists CSA or
supervisor with scheduling in the appropriate time slot..
3 4. Scans reqs/forms into EPIC accurately and consistently.
3 6. Reports and documents patient incidents in a timely
manner.
Qualifications
EDUCATION:
Graduation from an A.M.A. approved Radiologic Technology program
preferred, MRI board certification required. AS degree preferred,
BS degree preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum 1 year experience or has completed YNHH MRI training
program plus MRI Board Certification
SPECIAL SKILLS:
Proficient in routine MRI imaging techniques, above average
knowledge of cross section anatomy, highly developed organizational
skills, and timely and effective communications skills is
required.
ACCOUNTABILITY:
Must meet the performance expectations as defined in the MRI
Technologist 1 position description. Performance and competency
will be assessed continually and reviewed annually by manager/
coordinator. Any areas that are determined to be unsatisfactory
will require additional training and re-evaluation within 90
days.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:
ARRT and CT state license preferred, MRI board certification
required. CPR Certification preferred.
INFORMATIONAL
SPECIAL WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMAND:
Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds to assist with patient
transfers.
